Bachata originated in the Dominican Republic through African descendants in the country, and spread to other parts of Latin America and Mediterranean Europe. Its subjects are often romantic; especially prevalent are tales of heartbreak and sadness. Sexy, playful, and seductive, it is presently one of the favorites in the Los Angeles' dance clubs.
